Uncertainty and stress, the impact we’re feeling of the coronavirus pandemic, affects us all. It’s natural we’re all experiencing increased feelings of anxiety, worry, even fear during quarantine.
These negative emotions are real for us all. But we also know we have to move on.
To rebuild our lives post-lockdown, we need to draw on our resourcefulness and solution-finding abilities. After all, we have the strength to build our best lives - we just need to realise it.
7 steps to future-proof your life post lockdown
Invest in yourself: There’s nothing like knowledge to build confidence. Sign up for webinars , online learning and events. Find out what keeps you feeling mentally fit and energised. Investing in self-development helps you feel empowered. You’ll uncover your potential to set and meet future challenges.
Build a side hustle: Then turn it into your future! If this pandemic has shown us anything, it most certainly has proved no job is stable. Find something you are passionate about. Then focus on how you can monetise it by building your own business or selling a product. With independence, you’re free from wondering if your job is at risk of being axed. So go ahead, and plan to unleash your own potential to make money.
Go digital: Transitioning all or part of your work/business online is absolutely key. This is a major takeaway from lockdown. Understanding how to connect with others online, how to build a platform and how to make money is crucial to future-proof your life through a successful career.
Develop your skill-set: And acquire new ones too. This goes hand in hand with number 1. Investing in your mindset, emotional health, and personal development is empowering. It gives you the possibility to achieve. It will allow your CV to stand out and, when your side hustle has become your own business, clients will choose your services or products over others.
Keep progress reports: Celebrate your accomplishments! Articulate all the goals you’ve achieved by updating your website or CV. It will help you build on your new skills and boost your self-esteem. Be sure to share your updated achievements with everyone!
Expand your network: Invest time in the people you meet through work, or socially. It’s key in terms of creating opportunities. Reach out to others in any way you can - everyone adds value to your life in some way. Networking allows you to make new connections for possible career or business moves in the future. At the same time, it broadens our social circle, enriches our mind and enhances our life.
Start saving: Put aside as little or as much as you can. Whether you put £10, £100 or £300 away a month, this will always give you a pot to pull out of if need be. And, if you want to be even more money savvy, why not look into opening an ISA account or low risk alternative.
